Main Street York exists to strengthen Downtown York as a vibrant, welcoming, and resilient place—rooted in history and rising with progress. Guided by the Main Street America™ Approach, we focus on supporting small businesses, encouraging local entrepreneurship, preserving historic spaces, and promoting downtown as a walkable destination. When people shop small in Downtown York, they help create local jobs, reinvest in the community, and sustain the character that makes York unique. Our Focus
Main Street York is a Main Street South Carolina community dedicated to strengthening Downtown York through the nationally recognized Main Street Four-Point Approach®. Guided by the principles of Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality, Main Street York works alongside residents, businesses, and partners to support revitalization efforts that are community-driven and results-focused.
By honoring York’s historic character while encouraging thoughtful growth, Main Street York serves as a catalyst for economic development and long-term vitality in the city’s historic downtown district.
York is a Main Street South Carolina community, designated by the Municipal Association of SC’s Main Street SC Coordinating Program. Main Street City of York is charged with administering the program at the local level and building public-private partnerships to spur economic development that achieves measurable results such as investment, business growth, and job creation.
